Daylight savings turned an otherwise 24 hr race into a 25 hour race. 25 hours of riding the same 13 mile mnt. bike loop over and over and over. The race started at 10am on Saturday and finished 10am on Sunday. The solo riders, who actually do loop after loop for 25 hours are sick. Our guys (4 man team) are a little more sane, but doing a loop at 3am is still absurd if you ask me. I've never been so happy to be a spectator and not a racer than when I woke up at 2:57am and didn't have to think..."Ugh, my turn already? Dang, it's cold!" Instead I got to roll back over in my cushy car camping down comforter and let sleep and warmth continue to engulf me.
DAY ONE
We borrowed Chad and Candace's pop-up tent. It was camping luxury! I want one of those.

I really am happy, despite what my sleepy face says |
Any camping trip during college football season just wouldn't be complete without hauling out a heavy satellite dish, tv, and generator so the guys wouldn't miss the big Utah vs. TCU game. Or should I say big LAME game. I was excited to watch it too, but we were all disappointed. ESPN College Gameday was at the U and it was supposed to be an awesome game, but put me to sleep...literally, I took a nap after the 1st quarter. Still, it was fun to have the satellite (as long as it doesn't become a camping habit). It brought over several visitors and made a great lantern when the sun went down.

Trying to get a signal |

football, son! |

Like kids on Christmas morning |

ESPN College Gameday |

Once the game was in place they could focus on the race.
The first rider has to start by running to his bike. It breaks up the start |
Britt went first. I love the jumpsuit Captain America is wearing on the left |
Britt finishing his first lap. We were camped on the bluff overlooking the last stretch |
Greeted by wife Jenny |
The alternating laps and hanging out continued through the rest of day and the night
Good luck! |

Cory explaining football to Brandon's one year old niece |
Sawyer couldn't be persuaded that BYU is better than Utah |
B's nephew LOVED the mini muffins |
Andrus family = rockstar spectators. They show up anywhere to cheer us on. Love them! |
Best seat in the house (and he threw rocks within 30 sec of sitting down, just like his uncle) |
home sweet home! |

This little girl has the most contagious giggle |

Doesn't get better than this |

Britt and Jake watching for Cory. Once he appears on the ridge, Brandon takes off to meet him at the transition point |
Cory finishing the last stretch |
Headed to camp |
B finishing lap 1 |
B finished just after the U game started. The lady with the U shirt is one of many who stopped by our campsite to check out the game we didn't have on. Utah didn't show up to play so B changed it to the LSU vs Alabama game. |
Jenny napping on one end of the pop-up. I crashed just after I took this on the other end. How 'bout those pink curtains, eh! |
Everyone needs a fire barrel. Jake saved us by bringing this |
When waking up every hour as one guy came in and another left sounded like the perfect set up for a cranky, annoyed night, Jenny and I moved to the jeep. We still woke up to the noise from time to time, but it was much better. |
DAY 2
That's 2 for Day 2, not a peace sign |
B finishing his LAST lap. He started in the dark and ended with the sunrise. |
A few hours to go |
Brandon, Britt, Cory, Jake. |
So much better than staying home for the 'epic' football game.

You guys are CRAZY and to think Cory is marrying my daughter. What was I thinking when I said, "yes, I approve!" I loved the pic of the little guy on his bike. I can hardly wait for a little Cory to ride with GANP PA!... :-)
