Mexico

With the recent cold and latest headlines (the hotel we stayed in blew up) I've been thinking a lot about warmer weather and scuba diving. I never posted any pics from our honeymoon so here they are.

 Scuba Diving
We did a lot of scuba diving and got certified. We really wanted to see a turtle and finally saw one on our last dive. Scuba diving has the most incredibly free feeling.

Playa Del Carmen

Last week of the Tour de France or Honeymoon? Smart guy chose honeymoon, but he did pause to think about it (long pause... until he remembered DVR). Here is the only glimpse we got of it.

Me eating in the hotel restaurant that's right next to the lounge that blew up
Afternoon on a Catamaran

This thing is attached to the Catamaran
He jumped from up there

We ate at a restaurant on the beach...literally

Happy Halloween - In Fruita, CO

Any Halloween spent outdoors instead of party hopping is a good one. This year we got the pumpkin carving in before Halloween then took off for Fruita, CO.
Sarah and Dave (holding their new baby, Ruth), Brandon
Pulling out the insides is so gross

Eating the insides is fantastic. We roasted these
Still can't believe Dave's a dad (I love that baby blanket)
Fruita doesn't look like much from the highway, but behind the dirt hills and dry grass is a labyrinth of fun trails

18 mile road: You can't see it, but our campsite is surrounded by trails. Wake up and go
The bathroom was far enough away it was easier to ride to it. Not ideal for me, but whatever. It worked. That's Jenny H, kinda surprised to see me with a camera when she came out...understandably.
bacon, sausage, greasy egg sandwich. Mmm.
Fried twinkie was impromptu and nothing I'd ever eat. Good experiment though.
Every group has that guy who will eat the experiments. In our case, it's C-Hawke
Fruita crew 2010 (originally destined for the White Rim until the road washed out in a storm)
Do I have a post yet that doesn't include a pic of me and brandon in flattering helmets?

J-Dub Weening (finally) and me

Hiking down this wasn't that fun, hiking back up it was even worse, but the ride it led us to was incredible. Watching Britt  make it down most of this on his bike was frightening. Wish I had a better picture

Cory, Lynn, Brandon.

Kat and Jenny W

While hauling our bikes up another spot a couple riding a tandem came along. huh, not sure what I think about that one

Coolest fence ever

Comfort Inn, Fruita. This is where Brandon and I ended up after a microburst blew through camp while we were watching the Utah vs Airforce game in a seedy Grand Junction bar. Our fly flipped up just enough to soak all my stuff. I love camping, but sleeping in soggy coldness is bound to bring out the volatile in me. We didn't need that coming out on another road trip.
