Happy 2 Months

Two months already. Every week goes fast even when the days sometimes seem so long (the nights can be especially long). He's starting to smile and cry less, sleep better at night, and he's growing so fast. I love how expressive he is with his hands and how he now stares at us and makes eye contact. He startles easily and keeps us laughing with all the different faces he makes.

Griff's official 2 month photo shoot. So sweet.

Blessings

Griffin received his baby blessing Sunday November 6. Brandon gave him a beautiful blessing as family and friends surrounded Griff in the circle. I've seen countless baby blessings throughout the years, but there's nothing like hearing the blessing for your own child. The outfit Griffin wore is the same outfit Brandon wore when he was blessed - even the booties. During the blessing he was wrapped in a blanket Brandon's mom and grandma (Seare) made years ago. Brandon's grandma knew she wouldn't be around to attend her great grandchildren's blessings so she said the blanket would be like her holding the child on that day. She said she'd be there in spirit. I have no doubt she was there.

My parents, sister and grandparents came in town. We are lucky to have Brandon's family already here. November 7 was my mom's birthday, and she is a blessing to her family and pretty much everyone she meets. We loved having so much family in town. With so many things to be grateful for, the brisk weather and delicious food (thanks Mom!) it felt like the holidays.

Kathy and Dwight. Jaime and Mike and kids came over later, but I didn't get pics of them.

Pedicures on Mom's bday

Griff was so good. He just sat in the chair next to me
Baskin Robbins for dinner, Mom's bday request

Discovering the football game on tv. Wish I'd written down who was playing. He loved it.

Visting Jai Jai and Pops (and Baylee)

I was getting a little restless and Brandon could use some solid sleep and focused work time (and overtime) so I drove to my parent's house 500 miles away. Me and a newborn. Not the brightest idea, but I figured I'd be in my house with a colicky baby or in the car with one. Feeding and diaper changing would be a little more challenging, but as long as I didn't give myself a schedule, I could do it. The 7ish hour drive took me 10 hours, but we made it safely and Griff was actually really good.

Road Trip Highlights
No traffic
Griffin slept more than I expected
I didn't get tired at all
My dad not worrying about the trip because we didn't tell him I was coming
Surprising my dad and introducing him to his new grandson

Road Trip not-so-highlights
Biggest spit-up EVER - all over himself, the car, me, my shirt, my cleavage.
Forgetting to hook up my breastfeeding bra after the spit-up incident and walking into a gas station with bulky bra material bulging under my shirt on my right boob.
Wendy's - no Ketchup, no straw, no napkins
Diarrhea - me, not him (Thank you Wendy's)
Few exits with bathrooms from Richfield to Green River. Ouch
Less than 10 minutes to my parents Griffin woke up and loudly insisted on eating right then (he gets that from me). Had to pull over to feed him for 30 minutes. So close

The week in Colorado with my mom, dad, and Baylee was awesome. Good to have a change of scenery, adults to talk to most of the day and outings with adults. I didn't take many pics.

My mom drove home with me which made going back so much easier than the drive out. We surprised Brandon by coming in a day early. Griff and I missed him. My dad and Baylee came a day later to spend the weekend at our place for the baby blessing.

Halloween night with Pops

First trip to Boogies
Tradition - before someone leaves town we have to go get a Boogies shake.

Griff's first snow

Watching Modern Family. No joke, he was into it.

Hatching

Griffin doesn't just wake up, he hatches. He stretches and kicks and punches and makes noises like he's  hatching out of a little egg. I was recording it one day and was lucky to capture the biggest yawn.  This never fails to make me laugh

Getting Out

I can't remember the last time I spent so much time inside, on a couch, watching tv, staring at the same 4 walls as I have the last several weeks. My indoor time to outdoor time ratio has altered considerably, but we've still managed to get out a bit.
Our first family outing.Lunch at  Smashburger with Chad and Candace. Griff was 2 weeks old

Our first walk

grocery store - I'm suddenly a huge fan and will stroll around as long as Griff will take it.

taking it pretty well this day
