Our Wedding Day
I'm finally getting around to choosing and posting wedding pics (Russ Woodward, photog). There were way too many to post so check out our picasa album (click on the colored words mom). The GOOD:
- A run for me while Brandon Biked
- My older sister surprising me. Her son got chicken pox so she wasn't going to make it. Her husband covered for her and she came. Awesome surprise!
- Pedicures with girlfriends, sisters, moms, and sisters-to-be.
- Professionals doing my hair and make-up. I love getting my hair washed and I don't know a thing about doing my hair/makeup. I wear pigtails when I workout and when I go out. I look the same all the time.
- 5pm Draper Temple sealing. I loved the late sealing time.
- Market Street Grill (my favorite) dinner/reception. Good tunes, delicious food, deck with a view.
- So many people we love celebrating with us.
- And a gooey list of things that could dominate this post, but it can be summed up as: It was a beautiful, smooth, exciting, fun, happy day. Really, how do you put it in words? We absolutely loved it.
The BAD:
There wasn't anything really 'bad' about the day, but you can't have a wedding day without a few bloopers. I still wouldn't have changed anything about it...except maybe the heat
- Hottest Day of 2010: 103 degrees...Brandon's worst nightmare.
- I got caught in my bath towel by Brandon and his friend, Lynn, when they came over earlier than expected to move the remainder of my stuff to the new place. All three of us were deer in the headlights when I came around the tight corner to see what all the noise was.
- My car battery had a connectivity problem that left me stranded in a parking lot on an errand. Plenty of family was nearby for the rescue with little time wasted. Disaster averted.
- Wendy's and McDonald's within hours of each other (not a highlight of the day). Really not a good choice considering the potential digestive issues provoked by fast food joints. Brandon was smarter and had a real lunch with his family.
- I found a pencil mustache groomsman from another reception and his date in my bridal room gettin freaky. She got her dress on with impressive speed (must get plenty of practice), but it didn't cover much more than when she had it off. The guy's sudden confusion act almost had me fooled, but something about them taking my name plate off the door and "not noticing" all my stuff in the room makes me think that maybe they might have thought someone occupied that space for the night. It's amazing what beer and hormones can make you overlook. (Brandon thought this was super funny. I'm not saying it's not funny, I'm just saying, "get your own room.")
- The air cooled down, but was still warmer than expected on the deck. I ducked into the servers quarters a few times to get the rush of air condition (btw, the servers were great!)
Market Street provides the flowers. They just show up. The florist does a great job. I saw plenty of examples. The flowers the week before our wedding were gorgeous - just what I would want. They even had flowers from my bouquet in them. So we show up to drop a few things off for our reception and find the wedding planner looking...well, concerned. She apologized and took me to see the flowers. This is what we saw
The florist must have taken inspiration from Dr. Suess this week. Not exactly a wedding arrangement. Fortunately my friend Kristy Cunningham, who should be a wedding coordinator, saved the day and quickly arranged new center pieces from bouquet leftovers. They fit our look much better.
Planning a wedding is annoying, but it was so worth it.
